The BenRiach distillery was founded by the Grant family in 1892, just south of Elgin in Speyside. The barley is grown on the fields surrounding the distillery. Like many distilleries in Scotland, BenRiach was closed at the turn of the 20th Century, only to be reopened by Glenlivet Distillers Ltd in 1965. In 1978 she became the property of Seagrams who in turn became part of Pernod-Ricard ini 2001. It would take until 2004 before an independent consortium – the BenRiach Distillery Company Ltd – took over and committed itself to producting high quality single malts for a broad audience. In 2007, the distillery was awarded ‘Distiller of the Year’ by Malt Advocate, an honour that was bestowed upon Billy Walker and his crew again by Whisky Magazine in 2009.

The Benriach Septendecim is distilled from peated malted barley. Tasting notes: Sweet concentrated peat flavours dominate from the start. Bold and intense. The peaty heart is united with honey-infused raisins, roasted nuts and a luxurious leather impression.
